JAMAICA

One month ago, I assumed responsibility for the Jamaica portfolio and my workload and stress level increased exponentially.  I landed in Jamaica Sunday to start a two-week long temporary duty trip and am liking it so far.  I actually think I like it better than the Dominican Republic but definitely not as much as Barbados.

Although I have tons of work today, I have managed to enjoy walking around Emancipation Park, looking at the beautiful moutains, walking to Scotchies for fish cooked over pimiento(?) wood, eating Doubles and vegetarian patties from New Leaf restaurant, watching t.v., and having someone else wash and twist my hair.

I find myself comparing Kingston to Santo Domingo, but on my husband's urging I am committed to returning home to Santo Domingo in as just a happy state as when I left home.  I have orders from my dear hubby to bring back jerk sauce and fish and my daughter keeps asking me, "Mom, what did you get me?"

My mom is visiting this weekend and hopefully we'll be able to visit some touristy spots together.
